ILUMA i ONE in Gurgaon: A Transition Plan From IQOS 2.4 or 3 DUO

If you've been using an IQOS from the 2.4 or 3 DUO era, you probably have a routine you barely think about: holder out of the charger, HEETS in, button, wait, use, a cleaning session now and then. Moving to the ILUMA i ONE changes most of that. The device is different, the sticks are different, and the two systems don't mix. The smoothest upgrades follow a plan, so here's one, written for adult IQOS users in Gurgaon.

What's actually different

A quick cheat sheet before the plan:

  • Heating: the 2.4 and 3 DUO used a heating blade inside the stick. The ILUMA i ONE uses SMARTCORE induction, with no blade.
  • Sticks: your old device takes HEETS. The ILUMA i ONE takes TEREA only.
  • Cleaning: blade devices needed regular cleaning. The ILUMA i ONE needs none.
  • Parts: your old device came as a holder and pocket charger. The ILUMA i ONE is one piece.
  • Starting a session: on older devices you generally pressed a button to start heating. On the ILUMA i ONE, heating starts automatically when you insert a TEREA stick to the line.
  • Battery: about 20 sessions per full charge, about 90 minutes over USB-C.

The rule that shapes the whole plan

HEETS don't work in ILUMA devices, and TEREA must never go into a blade device. So you can't run down your HEETS in the new device, and you can't try TEREA in the old one. The old device and its sticks finish together; the new device and its sticks start together.

Step 1: count what you have

Before ordering anything, count your HEETS. Open packs, unopened packs, the half-carton in the cupboard. Then divide by the number you use a day.

That number is how many days the old device still has to run.

Step 2: decide your switch date

  • A few days of HEETS left? Order the ILUMA i ONE now and switch when they run out.
  • Several weeks of HEETS left? Order the ILUMA i ONE so it arrives near the end, and meanwhile stop buying HEETS.
  • Just a handful of loose sticks? Finish them in the old device over a day or two.

Step 3: use up your old sticks in the old device

This is the part people get wrong. Use your HEETS in your old device, as you always have, until they're gone. Don't try them in the ILUMA i ONE; they don't work in it.

While you're running them down:

  • Keep the old device and HEETS together, and the new device and TEREA together, in separate places.
  • Don't buy more HEETS "just in case".
  • If someone else in your home still uses a blade device, make sure they know TEREA isn't for it.

Step 4: pick your first TEREA

Buy packs, not a carton, until you've settled. TEREA won't taste identical to your old HEETS, because the heating is different; give your first blend a few days.

Step 5: switch day

  1. Charge the ILUMA i ONE fully. USB-C, about 90 minutes.
  2. Turn it on by holding the button for 4 seconds. The four lights fade on.
  3. Slide the cap toward the light end.
  4. Insert a TEREA stick until the line on the filter meets the top. One vibration; heating starts automatically.
  5. Wait about 20 seconds. The lights fill bottom to top. A second vibration and four steady lights mean ready.
  6. Use it. Up to 6 minutes or 14 puffs, with FlexPuff adding up to 4. In the last 30 seconds or 2 puffs, it vibrates and the bottom light pulses.
  7. Pull the stick out and close the cap. Nothing to clean.

Step 6: retire the old kit

Once the last HEETS are gone, put the old device, its charger and the cleaning tools away together, and stop keeping two sets of sticks. Having only one kind of stick in the house is the simplest way to avoid ever putting the wrong one in the wrong device.

What you'll notice in week one

  • Fewer things to carry. One device instead of holder plus charger.
  • No end-of-day cleaning.
  • No button press to start heating. Insert and wait.
  • A different taste. It takes a few days to adjust, so don't change blends every stick.

Upgrading the device doesn't change what's in the stick. TEREA is tobacco, contains nicotine, which is addictive, and is not risk-free. Quitting completely is still the best option for any IQOS user.

Can I use my leftover HEETS in the ILUMA i ONE?

No. HEETS don't work in ILUMA devices. Use them up in your old IQOS before switching.

Can I put TEREA in my IQOS 3 DUO?
