TEREA Sticks: All Seven Blends Compared, Plus Storage and Fit

By the iqoser team · Updated · 5 min read

A pack of TEREA Amber heated-tobacco sticks

TEREA is the stick, ILUMA is the device, and they only work as a pair. If you're choosing sticks for the first time, or you've tried one blend and want to know what else is out there, this guide lays all seven side by side and then covers the practical questions: pack or carton, how to store them, and which devices they fit.

The seven blends at a glance

Blend Family Taste Who it tends to suit
Amber Tobacco Balanced, roasted; the everyday one Anyone starting out who likes a plain tobacco taste
Bronze Tobacco Rich and full, cocoa and dried-fruit notes People who find Amber too mild and want more body
Silver Tobacco Refined, lighter toasted tobacco People who want a lighter-tasting tobacco
Turquoise Menthol Cool menthol over toasted tobacco, zesty edge Menthol smokers who want a familiar, bright cool taste
Purple Wave Menthol Menthol tobacco with dark forest-fruit notes Menthol smokers who like a fruit note in the background
Sun Pearl Capsule Deep menthol tobacco; click for cool watermelon People who want a strong cool base and the option of a fruit burst
Oasis Pearl Capsule Toasted creamy tobacco; click for passion fruit and menthol People who like tobacco first, with a cool fruit change partway

"Lighter" and "richer" describe taste only. Nothing in the descriptions above tells you about nicotine, so don't pick on that basis.

The three families, explained

Tobacco blends (Amber, Bronze, Silver) have no menthol. They differ in how roasted and full the taste is. Amber sits in the middle, Silver is lighter, Bronze is heavier and sweeter in its notes.

Menthol blends (Turquoise, Purple Wave) are cool from the first puff to the last. Turquoise keeps it simple with a citrus-like edge; Purple Wave adds darker fruit.

Capsule blends (Sun Pearl, Oasis Pearl) have a small capsule in the filter. You squeeze the filter until it clicks and the flavour changes for the rest of the stick. You don't have to click; without it, you get the base taste only.

A sensible route for most people is to start with one blend from the family closest to what you smoke now, give it a few days, then try a neighbour in the table.

Pack or carton

  • A pack holds 20 sticks and costs ₹320–₹360 depending on blend.
  • A carton holds 10 packs, 200 sticks, at ₹3,000–₹3,400.

One stick gives roughly one session. Packs make sense while you're still deciding between blends, because you can try three or four without committing. Once you have settled on one, a carton means fewer orders and works out cheaper per stick. The pack vs carton guide does the arithmetic.

How to store TEREA

There's no need to be precious about it, but a few habits keep the taste right:

  1. Keep packs closed when you're not taking a stick out. An open pack left on a table picks up moisture on humid days and dries out in dry weather.
  2. Keep them out of direct sun and heat. A car dashboard or a sunny windowsill is the worst place for them.
  3. Don't crush them. A bent stick may not insert cleanly to the line. A pack in a back pocket takes a beating; a bag or jacket pocket is kinder.
  4. Store unopened packs somewhere cool and dry, in a cupboard rather than near a kitchen stove or bathroom.
  5. Finish an open pack before opening the next where you can, so sticks don't sit around half-used.

If a stick tastes flat or off, the most common reasons are a stale or damp pack, or that it isn't pushed in to the line.

Which devices TEREA fits

This is the part to get right:

  • TEREA works only in ILUMA-family devices, such as the ILUMA i ONE. Each stick has a sealed metal heating element that the device's induction coil warms.
  • Never put TEREA into an older IQOS that uses a heating blade. It isn't designed for that.
  • HEETS, the older IQOS sticks, don't work in ILUMA devices.

You can tell a TEREA stick by its look: white, with a coloured band printed "TEREA" at the mouth end. When it's in the device, only that band shows.

Using a stick

Push the stick into the opening until the line on the filter meets the top. The device vibrates and preheats for about 20 seconds; a second vibration and four steady lights mean it's ready. A session lasts up to 6 minutes or 14 puffs, with FlexPuff able to add up to 4 puffs. When it ends, pull the stick out and slide the cap closed.

A note on what TEREA is

TEREA is tobacco and contains nicotine, which is addictive. Heating it means no smoke and no ash, and studies have measured lower levels of many harmful chemicals in the aerosol than in cigarette smoke, but that lower exposure hasn't been shown to mean a lower risk of disease, and it is not risk-free. TEREA is for adults who already smoke; the best choice of all is to stop completely.

Questions

Which TEREA blend should I try first?

Pick the family closest to what you smoke now. Amber is the usual first tobacco blend and Turquoise the usual first menthol.

Do TEREA sticks work in IQOS 3 DUO or other blade devices?

No. TEREA is made only for ILUMA-family devices and must never be used in a blade device.

What happens if I don't click the capsule?

Nothing goes wrong. You simply get the base taste of the blend for the whole session.

How many sessions are in a pack?

About 20, since one stick gives roughly one session. A carton of 10 packs gives about 200.
