TEREA in Jaipur: Clearing Up the TEREA vs HEETS Confusion

By the iqoser team · Updated · 4 min read

A pack of TEREA Silver sticks for ILUMA devices

In a lot of Jaipur households, the confusion starts like this: one person has an older IQOS that's been around for years, another has just bought an ILUMA i ONE, and there are packs of sticks on the shelf that may or may not belong to either. Or a friend offers you "IQOS sticks" and you're not sure they'll work. This guide sorts it out once, with a chart you can screenshot.

The short version

  • TEREA is for ILUMA devices, including the ILUMA i ONE.
  • HEETS is for older blade-heated IQOS devices.
  • They are not interchangeable, in either direction.

The compatibility chart

TEREA sticks HEETS sticks
ILUMA i ONE Yes No, they don't work
Other ILUMA-family devices Yes No
Older IQOS with a heating blade Never Yes

The cell to remember is the bold one. TEREA must never go into a blade device.

Why they aren't interchangeable

The two systems heat tobacco in completely different ways.

Older IQOS devices use a heating blade. When you push a HEETS stick in, the blade goes into the tobacco and heats it from inside.

ILUMA devices use SMARTCORE induction. There's no blade. Instead, every TEREA stick has a sealed metal heating element inside it, and the coil in the device heats that element.

From that, the rules follow:

  • HEETS in ILUMA: HEETS don't have the metal element ILUMA needs, so they don't work in ILUMA devices.
  • TEREA in a blade device: TEREA isn't made for a blade, and it contains a metal element of its own. Don't do it.

How to tell them apart

Before a stick goes anywhere near a device, check it.

  1. Read the pack. The name on the pack is the quickest check. If it says TEREA, it's for ILUMA.
  2. Read the stick. A TEREA stick is white with a coloured band printed "TEREA" at the mouth end.
  3. Check after inserting. In an ILUMA i ONE, a TEREA stick inserted until the line on the filter meets the top shows only its coloured band above the device.
  4. When in doubt, don't. If you can't tell what a stick is, don't put it in either device.

Keeping a mixed household straight

If your home has both an old blade IQOS and an ILUMA i ONE:

  • Separate shelves or drawers. TEREA on one, HEETS on the other. Label them if you need to.
  • Keep sticks with their device. Store each device next to its own sticks.
  • Tell everyone the rule. The person with the older device should know never to borrow TEREA.
  • Use up old HEETS in the old device. If you've upgraded, finish your HEETS in the old IQOS before you retire it. Don't try them in the new one.

Common questions from people who've upgraded

"My HEETS are still fresh. Can I just try one in my ILUMA i ONE?" No. They don't work in ILUMA devices. Finish them in your old device.

"Do TEREA blends taste like my old HEETS?" Not exactly. The heating method is different, so expect a few days to adjust. If you used a plain tobacco HEETS, start with Amber; if menthol, start with Turquoise. The first pack guide has more.

"Do I still need my cleaning kit?" Not for the ILUMA i ONE. There's no blade, so there's no cleaning. Keep the kit with the old device if you still use it.

Storing TEREA in Jaipur's dry heat

Once you've got the right sticks, keep them right. Jaipur's summers are hot and dry; keep packs closed between sticks, out of the sun and never in a parked car. A pack left open in dry heat can dry out and taste harsher.

Buying the right sticks

All TEREA blends on iqoser work in the ILUMA i ONE. Browse them in the TEREA collection; packs are ₹320–₹360 and cartons ₹3,000–₹3,400. Order on iqoser.in; checkout shows the delivery options for your pincode.

TEREA is tobacco and contains nicotine, which is addictive. It's for adults who already smoke and isn't risk-free.

Questions

Can I use HEETS in an ILUMA i ONE?

No. HEETS don't work in ILUMA devices, because they don't have the metal element that induction heating needs.

Can I use TEREA in an older IQOS?

Never in a blade device. TEREA is made only for ILUMA-family devices.

How do I know if a stick is TEREA?

Check the pack name, then the stick: a TEREA stick is white with a coloured band printed "TEREA" at the mouth end.

What should I do with leftover HEETS after upgrading?

Use them up in your old blade device. Don't try them in the ILUMA i ONE.
