The device
What is the IQOS ILUMA i ONE?
A one-piece heated tobacco device for adults who already smoke. It heats TEREA sticks instead of burning tobacco. There's no separate holder or charger case.
How does it heat the tobacco?
With SMARTCORE induction. A coil in the device heats a sealed metal element inside each TEREA stick, which heats the tobacco. See SMARTCORE explained.
Does it have a heating blade?
No. That's why nothing can break off inside and there's no cleaning routine.
What colours does it come in?
Breeze Blue, Leaf Green, Digital Violet and Midnight Black at ₹4,990, and Electric Purple at ₹5,290. All five are the same device inside.
How big is it?
122.4 × 30.6 × 16.3 mm and 73.9 g.
What changed in the 2025 redesign?
A four-light status bar and a pill-shaped button.
TEREA sticks
What are TEREA sticks?
The tobacco sticks made for ILUMA-family devices. Each contains a sealed metal heating element. A pack holds 20 sticks; a carton holds 10 packs.
Which blends are there?
Seven on iqoser: Amber, Bronze and Silver (tobacco), Turquoise and Purple Wave (menthol), and Sun Pearl and Oasis Pearl (capsule). Compare them in the TEREA sticks guide.
Do HEETS work in the ILUMA i ONE?
No. HEETS have no metal element for the induction coil to heat.
Can I put TEREA in my old IQOS?
Never use TEREA in an older blade device. It isn't designed for it and may damage the device.
How do the capsule blends work?
Squeeze the filter until the capsule clicks. Sun Pearl adds cool watermelon; Oasis Pearl adds passion fruit and menthol.
How should I store TEREA?
Closed, cool and dry, away from sun, car dashboards and humidity.
Using it
How do I turn it on?
Hold the button for 4 seconds until the four lights fade on.
How do I start a session?
Slide the cap toward the light end, insert a TEREA stick until the line on the filter meets the top, and feel for one vibration. Heating starts automatically.
How long is the preheat?
About 20 seconds. A second vibration and four steady lights mean it's ready.
How long does a session last?
Up to 6 minutes or 14 puffs, whichever comes first.
What is FlexPuff?
A feature that may add up to 4 extra puffs, depending on how you puff. It isn't something you switch on.
How do I know a session is ending?
One vibration and a pulsing bottom light mean about 30 seconds or 2 puffs remain. The lights reference lists every pattern.
Can I reuse a stick?
No. One stick is roughly one session.
Charging and battery
How many sessions per charge?
About 20.
How long does it take to charge?
About 90 minutes to full, over USB-C.
Can I use my phone charger?
Usually, yes, with a reputable adapter and a cable in good condition.
Care
Does it need cleaning?
No cleaning routine. Keep the cap closed and the opening and port free of lint and dust.
What if it gets wet?
Stop using it, switch it off, wipe it and let it dry at room temperature. Don't charge it or use heat. If it doesn't work normally after, contact official IQOS support.
Can I leave it in the car?
Not in a parked car in the heat. Take it with you.
Health, honestly
Is IQOS risk-free?
No. TEREA contains nicotine, which is addictive, and heated tobacco is not risk-free.
Does IQOS reduce harm compared with smoking?
Studies, including Philip Morris's own and some independent ones, measure much lower levels of many harmful chemicals in the aerosol than in cigarette smoke. Switching completely reduces exposure to those chemicals, but lower exposure has not been shown to mean lower risk of disease. See what the evidence shows.
What did the US FDA decide in 2020?
In July 2020 it authorised an earlier IQOS system (IQOS 2.4) to be marketed with a reduced-exposure claim. It did not authorise a reduced-risk claim, and the order doesn't cover ILUMA.
What does WHO say?
WHO's position is that heated tobacco products are harmful, that reduced exposure doesn't mean reduced risk, and it does not endorse them for quitting.
Will IQOS help me quit smoking?

Is the ILUMA i ONE the same as the ILUMA i or ILUMA i PRIME?
No. Those are two-piece devices with a pocket charger and holder; the ILUMA i ONE is one piece. iqoser sells the ILUMA i ONE.
Can I share my device with a friend?
Only ever with another adult who already smokes, and it's simpler for each person to have their own. Never offer it to someone who doesn't smoke.
